A unique series highlighting our teams across the country and providing a valuable insight into the security industry today.
When did you join the Paladin family?
My journey with Paladin Security Group began in February of 2007 when I joined the security team at St. Paul’s Hospital as a Junior Paladin Security Officer. This was a unique experience for me and I have since learned a great deal about healthcare and how security provides an important role in the support of patient care. It has been a rewarding enterprise to say the least.
Why did you get into the security industry and why Paladin?
My original plan was to use security as a stepping stone before going back to school but, after working with Paladin for only a few months, I quickly realized that not only did I find a “home” but I had found a long-term career. Since then, I've filled several exciting positions all the way up to where I am now as a Client Service Manager, and I've learned so much from the exceptional mentors who've schooled me over the years. No regrets!
What interests you most about your job?
I truly enjoy the fast-paced environment that is Healthcare Security. Every day is something new and a chance to help another person. I enjoy being involved in an interdisciplinary and dynamic environment where people count on my professional expertise to help keep their patients, staff and facilities safe on a daily basis.
How do you see the industry evolving in the future?
Increasingly in this day and age, organizations are realizing that they need increased security services to protect their people and properties. And, with technology and security systems ever evolving, security guards will be more highly-trained and able to operate more sophisticated electronic equipment.
What advice would you give anyone entering the security industry today?
If you have a good work ethic and a positive attitude, there's a place for you in this industry. At the end of the day, it's our people who make our award-winning security programs so successful, which our clients rave about.
Remember to keep an open mind, take as much training as you can and absorb the mentorship of the people above you. Where some people see a job, we see a great career and a great family.
