Paladin offers flexibility and training that compliments my life and goals. I am working towards a career in Law Enforcement; the opportunity to gain experience that will support me in my endeavors is something I am very grateful for.
My Daffodil Month Story:
I lost my dad to cancer just over a year ago; he was diagnosed with stomach cancer three years prior. In August 2012, he had his stomach removed and spent 100 days in the hospital. We found out that the cancer had come back in August 2014, and despite the Chemotherapy, he lost his fight in March 2015. I also lost one of my good friends to cancer a year out of high school, which was a really tough thing to go through at such a young age.
What does Paladin’s involvement and partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society mean to you?
While working at Paladin, it has been my team that has impacted me the most. Both my Area Security Lead and Site Security Lead were unbelievably accommodating to my circumstances. I had to take time off to support my dad through chemotherapy and countless doctors’ appointments, which my team supported and made arrangements to ensure I was able to be there for my dad.
Throughout my dad's battle, I received encouraging messages from my supervisors, which made me feel very valued. To top it off, a group from my site even came to my dad’s funeral last March.
When it was time to return to work after my dad passed, I was so nervous; I wasn’t sure how I would react to different situations and conversations. Thinking back to that moment brings me tears (happy tears) because of how cared for I was. Each team member was so supportive; it was the little things on shift that made a world of difference, I am forever grateful for their kindness.
Paladin is a company that passionately cares for people. I love working for an organization that dives into fundraising and awareness campaigns. You never know how something so small can impact someone’s life, but seeing Paladin’s involvement with the Canadian Cancer Society means the world to me, and it empowers me to make a difference.
