In coordination with Brandon Police Service & Mall management.
Beginning at 7:30am last Friday morning, Paladin Security Brandon engaged members of the Brandon Police Service in an armed intruder training exercise at the Brandon Shoppers Mall, working together with the Mall's management team should an incident like this occur.
To facilitate a real-life scenario, students from the Police Studies Class at the Assiniboine Community College were used as actors. This realistic scenario provided an objective view of the emergency preparedness capabilities of all personnel to jointly respond and organize quickly in the event of such an active shooter incident.
Manitoba Director of Operations Dick Scott commended the group's teamwork, saying; "No live ammunition was used during this training and at no time was the public or property in jeopardy. This venture has been carefully planned for over five months, demonstrating a cooperative training opportunity with exceptional partners."
Brandon Police commented; "We want to stress that this training event has been planned for several months and is not in response to any specific incident. There is no specific threat we are preparing for. The opportunity arose for us and Paladin Security to conduct joint training in a realistic environment and we recognize the tremendous benefits that this type of training will provide."
