Last month, we kicked off our wellness program series from our Head Office in Vancouver, with a 'Healthy Living Office Lunch & Learn' seminar. Health and fitness experts presented on four main pillars - Dietary/Food, Supplemental Nutrition, Fitness & Stress Management - and provided tips to practically empower our staff to create healthy environments in their respective workplaces, as well as ignite conversations that will result in the increasing wellness of employees and our corporate culture.
Corporate OH&S Manager Terry Sanghera commented; "This unique presentation did a great job simplifying what is required for proper nutrition and providing guidelines for physical activity. All participants also performed tension reduction stretches for the office environment, as well as the offer of a free one-on-one follow up health assessment with our experts, worth a $150 value. It was really worthwhile and is something we will be exploring again."
Our Halifax branch health and wellness afternoon took place this week, with a dietitian and personal trainer offering information on managing stress, meal planning, reading food labels and how certain foods affect your body, particularly during shift work.
Halifax Human Resources Coordinator Jackie Collier-O’Connell added; "Some of our Security Officers expressed concerns that healthier eating is too expensive, so this day was held to ensure our team is provided with the information they need to make informed decisions to enjoy a healthy work-life balance. They were given discounts for health food stores as well as samples, and there's already been interest to hold another meeting soon!"
