Why did you get into the security industry and why Paladin?
In late 2008, the economy in North America took a beating. At the time, I was a manager for a large American-based firm that made the decision to move their operation "home" to the United States. I heard through a close friend and Paladin employee that the growing company was hiring, so I started to explore the idea of working in the security industry. With Paladin, I was excited to discover the possibility of establishing a long-term security career, with the potential for ongoing learning and career development. Not only is there job security in this industry but the work that we do has a positive impact on the community in which we live and work.
What interests you most about your job?
Living outside the box. As a security service provider and industry leader, we are challenged to find new and innovative ways to provide the best service possible. I love that my job is to do my best and support others to do theirs. As individuals, and as a company, Paladin Security truly cares. And that attention to detail is part of what makes our security service delivery so special, and builds the team dynamic we have on board.
How do you see the industry evolving in the future?
As a Director, I'm excited on a daily basis to see what advances in security technology bring us. Improved communication tools, software and systems can only help the security professional of tomorrow to be as efficient as possible.
What advice would you give anyone entering the security industry today?
I would say that the security industry is so diverse and full of opportunities that there's something here for everyone. My advice is to learn as much as you can and identify what you are passionate about, because when you love what you do and the people you work with, it doesn't feel like work at all!
