We are proud to feature our Security Officers from across the country. On our latest Paladin Profiles entry , read about Grande Prairie Security Officer Dustin Evens and how he got started in the industry:
When did you join the Paladin Family?
I joined just over two years ago on March 9, 2015
Why did you get into the security industry & why Paladin?
I worked at the Great Northern Casino in Grande Prairie as a part of their security. With the experience I had, being able to practice that in Paladin was a good opportunity to maintain embracing daily tasks that involve getting back to the community. I know some people who work in security as well and it's very rewarding. Being in Healthcare, I was given really good training for all kinds of diverse work as well.
What's your favourite part about the job?
My favourite part about the job is the really good schedule. The flexibility of having four days on and four days off makes it easy to pick up shifts on my days off if I wanted to.
How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?
I work my scheduled shifts and also pick up some on-call whenever I can to make extra money. But family events come first so I do say no sometimes. Keeping my priorities balanced is important and management is very respectful of that so it's good.
What advice would you give to someone entering the security industry today?
I would say to keep post orders and don't be afraid to come up with ideas! But first, come to a complete understanding of the basics.
Describe Paladin in one-two words
