Women in Security: Abeer Jammal
How long have you been with Paladin Security?
I have been with Paladin since November of 2017. For the first five months, I worked full-time hours as a casual Security Officer. I later moved into the role of Dispatcher Team Lead, and recently I accepted a Security Supervisor position.
What motived you to join the security industry?
A career goal of mine is to work in law enforcement. The thought of helping people has always been a dream of mine and it is something I am able to do in my current role. I joined Paladin Security because I believe working in the security industry is the best way to gain experience related to law enforcement. I am grateful I joined because the security industry has taught me more than I ever imagined.
What unique traits do you believe women bring to security?
I believe women bring a unique aspect to security. Women tend to open up more easily around female security guards, since we naturally provide a comfortable environment. Women also have different approaches to communication, enforcement, and conflict resolution. This allows us to provide unique solutions to the situations we are involved in.
How would you describe Paladin Security?
Paladin Security is a committed company. The leadership teams maintain a good attitude with all employees because they value diversity, integrity, service, and care. Paladin also provides many opportunities for you to enhance your training and move forward in your career through promotions. They foster great security teams, and these amazing teams are how people define Paladin Security.
What is the best piece of advice you received that you want to pass on?
“You can do anything a man can do.”
This advice may sound cliché, but I truly live by it. Growing up in a family where women cannot do half the things a male can do, this advice struck me. I have achieved many things as a security guard, which people from home would never see a female doing. Knowing that I can succeed in a male-dominated industry, has helped me move closer towards my goals.
