More than ever before, individuals are embracing physical distancing and personal isolation to ensure the safety and security of their communities. Our security officers are no different. Across Canada, our teams have stepped up to provide exceptional security services for frontline healthcare workers, in order to aid their daily battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Healthcare security officers provide clinical staff, patients, and visitors with assurance they are safe at all times and that all safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic are being followed. With healthcare security, staff can care for patients without having to worry about the small things, such as the safety of parked vehicles or loss prevention of healthcare supplies.

Area Security Lead, Maninder Shergill, shares how our healthcare officers are providing security and safety relief during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Healthcare Security Services for COVID-19
Our healthcare security teams have been heavily involved in the COVID-19 response at site level. Since the initial admissions of COVID-19 patients, security has been instrumental in assisting with safe transfers to and from isolation zones. Security cordon off areas, place elevators in independent service, and provide access control to the route of travel. This is to ensure individuals are not placed in undue risks associated with the patients being transferred.
As the number of individuals seeking testing or medical attention increases, security has been supporting this by providing additional presence, access control, and wayfinding at pre-screening stations. Despite this not being a typical service provided by site security, our officers have been excellent in remaining flexible while ensuring other routine and emergency security services to the remainder of hospitals are maintained.
While stationed at security posts near heavily used public entrances, security directs all non-hospital staff to the designated pre-screening locations. This screening helps to determine their reason for their visit. Our officers are also encouraging individuals to practice good hand hygiene by sanitizing their hands when entering the facility. This is a unique and ever-changing situation, but our healthcare security teams are remaining adaptable, innovative, and vigilant during this challenging time.
Security Officers Perspectives During COVID-19 Pandemic
During this state of a worldwide pandemic, it is our utmost responsibility to ensure we are aiding and supporting clinical staff. As security professionals, we ensure clinical staff are able to provide critical services to the ailing, without worrying about their own safety at the hospital.
