National Fundraising Activities Spread Spring Cheer in the Fight Against Cancer
Paladin’s Face Off Teams Bring in $15,000+ for Cancer Society
On April 8th, Paladin took part in Face Off Against Cancer, a charity hockey tournament to raise funds for Camp Goodtimes, who provide recreation opportunities for children with cancer and their families.
Sixteen teams participated in the BC tournament, two of which were comprised of Paladin employees. Our two Paladin teams raised over $15,000 for the cause through raffles, silent auctions and through family and friends. Each team played with an alumni player from the Vancouver Canucks. In total, over $180,000 was raised by the participants!
Team Captain Jeff Peng (Director, Operations) praised the event as,
“A great day spent lacing up with some of Paladin’s finest to raise funds for this very worthy cause. An incredible job done by the Canadian Cancer Society to put this together in first-class fashion. This is our fourth consecutive year participating, and look forward to the next!”
Jeff’s team, who played with Canucks alumni Gary Nyland and Mark Lofthouse, won their division in the tournament, playing against teams from companies such as Molson, Somatic and Don’s Solutions as well as several local beer league teams. Notably, former Paladin employee, Craig Paynton of Interior Health, a client of Paladin’s in Kelowna, brought his team down to play as well.
Several Paladin employees flew in from Alberta to play for the cause, including Tyson Black from Calgary, Johnny Mattix from Lethbridge, and Brett Abreau and Derek Chynoweth from Edmonton.
Branches from Coast to Coast Conclude Daffodil Month
All of our offices creatively designed fundraising campaigns supporting Daffodil Month for the Canadian Cancer Society as a part of our corporate Four Seasons of Giving. Every single branch displayed great passion for the cause, coordinating several events for each of our employees to participate in, including:
Fort McMurray hosted a family BBQ event on April 20, serving different items on the menu along with cotton candy and a popcorn machine donated by a local rental company. There were also games available for kids!
Toronto partnered with Microsoft to host the first of many video game tournaments. The team also organized their very own pie day along with draws.
Brandon intricately decorated their entire office in celebration of the entire month partnered with several events: a Lotto Frame, Pick a Lucky Daffodil, BBQ/ Bake Sale and concluded the month with the pieing of CSM Burton Colter.
Burnaby’s signature Foosball Tournament spearheaded the office’s fundraising month and was accompanied by the annual Daffodil Grams, Videogame Tournament and concluded by a staff BBQ and pie day.
COO Don MacAlister contributed a significant donation from his textbook, Hospital and Healthcare Security.
Don says,
I am always amazed at how the Paladin team comes together across the country during Daffodil Month! They show energy, commitment and creativity to help raise funds for this important cause and having fun while doing so. We can't thank all of you enough, it's truly heartwarming."
