Paladin Security in St. John's was thrilled to contribute this month to Wheels for Aiden, a fundraiser organised by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Veteran’s Association on behalf of retired member Aiden Kenny, who was left wheelchair-bound nearly thirty years ago, two years into his career as a police officer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Aiden worked at RNC HQ for many years in CPIC and has since retired. A 2002 model van designed especially to allow him to drive is no longer road worthy, so the RNCVA is hoping to raise $45,000 to buy a new van.
Branch Manager Cy Thompson commented on the night;
"It's great to see everyone coming together to support this worthwhile cause, with a busy function attended by a large cross section of people in the community, including the Premier of Newfoundland, the Chief of Police of the RNC, and a large contingent of police officers, local politicians, business people and the general public. It was our pleasure to donate on behalf of Paladin as a community leader, and we wish Aiden and his family all the best."
