Earlier this year, Paladin Security entered the tenth year of our Manitoba operations. Opening our doors in Brandon and Winnipeg in 2010, Paladin has experienced a decade of growth, teamwork and new experiences.
A Humble History
Looking back on the last 10 years, Paladin’s growth in Manitoba has been exceptional. Below are some of our highlights we are most proud of:
2010: Paladin opens up our doors in Brandon and Winnipeg.
2012: Due to growing operations, Winnipeg office relocates.
2014: Paladin receives Certificate of Recognition in Manitoba.
2015: To accommodate the ever-expanding team, Brandon branch moved offices.
Winnipeg selected to host the 103rd Grey Cup.
2017: Winnipeg, again, moves locations to provide state-of-the-art, in-house training facility for our security officers.
Paladin Manitoba awarded BOMA Pinnacle award for Customer Service.
Celebrating Milestones
The growth of our branches is largely due to the incredible work and dedication of our local teams. In 2014, our Manitoba team set out to achieve the goal of offering the best safety program to our security officers. We achieved that goal by successfully passing our Certificate of Recognition program (COR™) audit and receiving recognition in the province of Manitoba. This accomplishment paved the way to offering the heightened safety program that we maintain today.
As we grew, Paladin took on more projects with complex security needs. One notable event was providing the security for the 103rd Grey Cup in Winnipeg in 2015. The entire city was buzzing and many of our clients required additional support and security during the festival. Our team was honored to support our clients and join our city in the celebration!
In fall of 2017, Paladin’s Manitoba teams were awarded the BOMA Pinnacle for Customer Service. This was our first national award for our team in Manitoba. We were thrilled to receive recognition by our peers and join the many other Paladin branches that had also received this prestigious award.
Promoting from Within
Paladin’s Brandon office started as a small operation, coordinated by a team of five. One of these initial members was our current Branch Manager, Debbie Burgess.
Debbie initially joined our Brandon Team working in payroll. Though her hard work and dedication, she has developed through the company, holding many positions within the branch. Debbie has been an instrumental member of the team and has always been known to lend a hand. Most recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Debbie took it upon herself to make masks for our officers in Manitoba in her spare time.
Debbie Burgess comments, “It was exciting to be such a big presence in the community in Brandon. I am very proud and elated to have led the management team for Brandon, Manitoba. I know our future is very bright in Brandon and the surrounding area as we provide the best security officers this business has to offer. I am so humbled by the fact that many of our clients from the initial launch are still our clients today. It’s incredible to look back and see how far we have come together.”
Debbie’s thoughtfulness and leadership has brought her a long way. Her team and our clients speak highly of her capabilities, as she has led our Brandon branch to some incredible accomplishments. Today Paladin’s Brandon operations is responsible for 98% of all security business in the Westman area.
Onto the Next Decade
In over 10 years, we have grown to over 650 employees in Manitoba. Serving many of the same clients today as we did in 2010, Paladin is proud to have continued to provide exceptional services in Manitoba.
Thor Goodmanson, Director of Operations, states “I am delighted to have been a part of this organization for the past 8 years that caters to an ever-increasing need for professional security services. Our 10-year anniversary marks a great accomplishment for our team in Winnipeg and in Brandon! I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Paladin Security in Manitoba!”
Moving forward Paladin Security is continuing to grow our reach across Canada, while staying true to our core beliefs. Just as the words Friendly Manitoba are prevalent on each license plate, our motto of making the world a safer and friendlier place thrives within everyone in our Manitoba team.
We recognize that our growth has been a result of the dedication and commitment of our local teams. Thank you for your support and we are excited to see what the next decade will bring for us!
