Paladin Security is thrilled to announce that one of our Security Officers in Newfoundland and Labrador has won the Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award.
The RTDNA Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the highest honours bestowed by RTDNA Canada, and is presented to individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast journalism.
The winner in the Atlantic Region, Gerry Phelan has been a leader in broadcast journalism in Canada and his commitment to the industry is well known. Gerry's background includes CJYQ St. John's, where he eventually became news director, and VOCM St. John’s where he became ND in 1985, where he held news leadership responsibilities until 2011.
As past RTDNA president from 1997 to 2001, he was a driving force with RTDNA Canada for many years, recognised with such honours as the RTDNA President's Award (2002) and the Distinguished Service Award (2006).
He served for several years as international representative on the board of RTDNA International, as well as a regional representative on the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council.
