At Paladin, we take great pride in teaching others who may not have had previous experience in security to know how to help others, care for themselves, and create a safe environment. We’re helping people who want to start a career in security understand the tools and techniques needed to manage critical situations. Moreover, we further improve Security Officer’s skills focused on their specific roles, which lead to personal growth. It is part of our C.A.R.E. culture of being Curious, Accountable, Respectful, and Exceptional. Our security professionals can take full advantage of the training and its application to sharpen their skills, knowledge, and abilities to meet a career goal.
Paladin has earned a national reputation as the leading training organization within the security industry, and we have achieved such a prestigious title thanks to our outstanding training experts. Meet some of our featured Paladin trainers: Sean Crawford, Anthony Suppa, Noah Tufts, Norm Bettencourt, and Xavier Youngsue.
Meet Paladin’s Training Manager for the Greater Toronto Area, Sean Crawford.
Sean started his 20-plus-year career in the Security Industry with a part-time Community Mobile/ Security Patrol Guard position while still a Law and Enforcement student at Seneca College and a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves. After finishing school, he continued working in the Security Industry, quickly moving up to Supervisory positions.
In 2016 Sean moved into a new role with Paladin Security taking the position of Mobile Zone Supervisor, providing him with even more Supervisory and Managerial experience, especially in healthcare security and campus security. After a few years, he was recruited for the position of Trainer/Instructor.
Taking the position as Trainer/Instructor has been challenging, exciting as well as professionally and personally rewarding for Sean. The opportunity to learn new skills while training and mentoring Paladin’s new and existing staff was a perfect fit for Sean and continues to be his focus. As of May 2021, he was promoted to Training Manager for the Greater Toronto Area.
His background in competitive Freestyle Wrestling and significant training in other grappling disciplines like Boxing have allowed him to maintain an athletic lifestyle. This includes physical training and recreational sports such as Mountain Biking, Waterskiing, Wakeboarding, Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Sailing. In fact, Sean recently got certified as a Security Cyclist Instructor by IPMBA (International Police Mountain Bike Association). This training, delivered to thousands of public safety cyclists each year by IPMBA’s cadre of certified Instructors, provides skills for safe and effective use of the bicycle in policing, EMS, and security work. Graduates often describe this course as one of the most challenging and rewarding classes of their careers.
Sean currently holds Instructor certifications in Use of Force, Self Defense and Tactical Weapons with several organizations, including ASP, MOAB Certification and Modern Warrior. He is also a certified First Aid and CPR Instructor with St. John Ambulance.
Sean is another shining example of our outstanding trainers at Paladin. They really take the time and dedication when it comes to training our staff. The Paladin Difference is about more than just meeting curriculum requirements or teaching students about everyday security procedures; it’s about bringing the classroom to life. We want our students to be able to take the information they’ve learned and apply it on the next patrol. Through this hands-on, strategic learning, we are empowering our security professionals to make a positive difference in their communities.
Thank you for your invaluable knowledge, expertise, and example, Sean!
Paladin's company-paid and on-the-job training ensure that newcomers to security are ready to perform with the tools and confidence they need to succeed. We even help prepare staff for provincial licensing exams and tests.
