On Saturday, June 3, 2017, the Keyano College Foundation Golf Classic was held at the Fort McMurray Golf Club, representing a restart of a tradition that was not held in 2015.
Regardless of the two year hiatus, the Golf Classic did not lack in support from the people and businesses of the Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo area. Our very own Paladin Security Fort McMurray branch signed up as a bronze sponsor, along with 35 other sponsors, 150 golfers and dozens of volunteers.
The event raised over $120,000 in support of Keyano students, educational programs, scholarships and campus development.
Paladin Security Fort McMurray Branch Manager, Matt Garcin in support of the event says,
It truly is a pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful event that gives back to our community. Keyano College is a pillar of our Fort McMurray community, and the Foundation provides significant support for those coming into and who are already in the workforce. Training is everything in Fort McMurray and the Foundation creates endless opportunities for those looking to better themselves. We look forward to every opportunity that we are able to support the Keyano College Foundation and our partners at Keyano College.
Vice President of External Relations and Advancement, Jason Demers thanks the event participants,
Every year, our donors and sponsors amaze us with their leadership, generosity and dedication to this great region and every single donation or sponsorship makes an impact in the community. This tournament is an important way of raising money, but equally important is how it brings the College and our friends and community partners together.
Founded in 1990, the very first one-day tournament on behalf of Keyano College was held at the Miskanaw Golf Course with approximately 40 players taking part. The first ever tournament event raised a total of $2,500.00
