Taking Care of Facilities during the BC Wildfires

After months of restructuring and planning their new security program, the Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMS) in Interior BC was ready to implement their 24/7 security coverage at the hospital for the first time.

But as the summer’s wildfires worsened, causing residents of several Interior BC communities to evacuate, roles were quickly changed to accommodate the growing emergency.

With the towns of both 100 Mile House and Williams Lake on evacuation order and hearing news of looting in some areas, the hospital’s security wanted to ensure that facilities were protected from any form of crime. The Paladin Officers assigned at Cariboo Memorial Hospital kept in touch with management throughout the evacuation to ensure the safety and smoothness of the order.

As repatriation planning began, the Paladin Officers were scheduled to start working at Cariboo Memorial for their first shifts on site. These Officers returned home and quickly reported for their shifts, some without much time to settle back home. They worked long hours to maintain security coverage in the first few days while the remainder of the team worked to return home.

These Security Officers prioritized the care of patients and worked first and foremost to ensure the hospital was a safe space. There is no greater example of Paladin’s dedication to providing patient-centric services
