When did you join Paladin?
I joined Paladin when the company took over the contract at my healthcare site. I had been working at the hospital since 2007.
What drew you to the industry?
Right out of university, I wanted a job and needed experience with the goal of policing having studied criminology. I managed to get into healthcare security and one year as turned into nearly a decade! I was searching to become a part of the brotherhood/sisterhood of the police force and in turn, I found that within Paladin.
What interests you most about your job?
The unpredictability of it. I appreciate the acceptance of security’s role in healthcare by the healthcare professionals. I am part of a huge family, both the Paladin family and the Trillium Health Partners family. The staff look to us as the experts in our field just as we look to them as professionals. There is no stigma here, we work together to provide patient success.
What unique traits do you feel women bring to the security industry?
Women are open-minded. They have a different way of thinking outside the box than men do. Women have creativity and having those different perspectives will help to elevate the industry to the next level.
What is the best advice you would share with women who are entering the industry?
Let your character and traits shine. You are a female and you will find success in this industry because there is a growing need.
How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Fitness, social and family. Feeding all sides of your life.
