We are thrilled to announce Paladin Security’s Executive Vice President, Shane Wright, has been selected as one of Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40. The prestigious honour celebrates business professionals who have achieved outstanding early-career success.
“We had an extremely impressive group of nominees for this year's awards program, which is also celebrating its 35th anniversary. It is humbling to read about all that these exceptional leaders have achieved in under four decades and inspiring to see what they are working toward. Across communities and industries, they are driving meaningful change and having a positive impact on our province," said BIV Editor-in-Chief Hayley Woodin Hastings.
Shane joins four other previous winners from Paladin, including Mark Forward in 2008 (Vice President), Ted Reid in 2012 (CFO), and Chad Kalyk in 2016 (President).
Finding Success
Shane’s professional track record is characterized by one thought: relentless growth. He started on the front line as a security officer in 2010 and has held nearly every role over his 15-year career with Paladin. He is now a proud part of the ownership group. His balance of academic achievements, professional designations, experience, and involvement has shaped him into the leader he is today.
Shane’s portfolio includes 7,500 employees across two businesses: Paladin Security Group Ltd (Western Canada) and Paladin Airport Security Services (Pacific Region). Under Shane’s leadership, Paladin has achieved year-over-year growth for the last decade.
In November 2023, Shane completed the biggest accomplishment of his career, which was helping secure Paladin’s largest-ever contract. He managed the successful transition over the first quarter of 2024 and continues to oversee the Pacific region as Executive Vice President of Paladin Airport Security Services.
Without Shane’s innovation, security expertise, and tenacity, Paladin would not have successfully acquired its largest contract in history with CATSA in the Pacific and Prairies regions. His forward-thinking approach has led to the implementation of cutting-edge security programs and practices, significantly enhancing our operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Professional Affiliations & Expertise
The impact of Shane's work extends beyond the confines of the organization. His contributions have been recognized industry-wide, earning him a reputation as a thought leader and influencer in the security sector. Shane’s other recent achievements include winning the 2022 Canadian Security Magazine Top 10 Under 40.
Connecting with the Community
In addition to his extensive professional accomplishments, Shane is deeply committed to giving back to the local community and being a business mentor. He actively promotes security awareness and education, mentors organizations, and supports charitable causes related to security and safety.
One of his passions has been the development of Paladin’s Indigenous Relations Practices as part of Paladin’s commitment to Section 92 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. Starting with a single joint venture in 2017, he developed a total of seven partnerships with Indigenous Communities across BC, including our most recent agreement with the Squamish First Nation in relation to Woodfibre LNG starting in January of 2024. This number increases to ten partnerships when looking at Paladin’s business across Canada. The joint ventures create a safe and secure working environment for all projects in the area and provide members of their respective nations with opportunities for training and employment and a path to a career in security.
Congratulations, Shane!
Shane and the rest of the winners will be featured in BIV’s annual Forty Under 40 Magazine in December and at a gala in early 2025.
