Burnaby, BC, November 19, 2019
Paladin is pleased to announce that we are the first Canadian security company to adopt and successfully transition to the new ISO 45001 standard, from its former accreditation – OHSAS 18001.
ISO 45001 (International Standards Organization) is the first internationally recognized Health & Safety Standard which has been developed to help organizations improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions, all over the world. The key difference between OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001, is that the 45001 standard considers both risks and opportunities, is dynamic in all clauses, and is process, not procedure based. ISO 45001 also considers the importance of mental health in workplace, which was not a part of the OHSAS 18001 accreditation.
To ensure our health and safety programs are constantly exceeding industry standards, on a routine basis, we voluntarily submit ourselves to regular audits by third party regulatory bodies. Our transition to ISO 45001 will continue this tradition while aligning us with the new worldwide standard for occupational health & safety best practices. In addition to holding the ISO 45001 standard we will, of course, continue our Certificate of Recognition (COR) programs in all relevant jurisdictions.
Paladin Security’s Vice President for National Quality Standards & Support (N.Q.S.S), André Albert says, “we recognized the significance of further reinforcing our existing operations as per provincial, national and international standards especially when the outcomes affect the health & safety of our most important resource – our people.”
André joined the company in 2003, and currently oversees the quality of service applications (from reporting, to fleet management, to Occupational Health & Safety) across North America. Andre plays a crucial role in taking the initiative to ensure consistency across all of Paladin’s branches. He is a member of ASIS International (American Society for Industrial Security), and is working towards earning his CPP & PSP designation.
