Security Guard Jobs for
New Canadian Residents

It is no surprise that Canada is ranked as the third best country to live in.

The landscapes are breathtaking, the people are welcoming, and the job market is growing!

Canada has not only been ranked third for its quality of life, but also for its prioritization of human rights and religious freedom. Yet, when individuals are asked to describe Canada, they often mention:

  • Hockey
  • Maple syrup
  • Igloos for houses
  • Or, people who frequently say “sorry”

Despite these common (and comical) associations, there is another essential aspect of Canada. Flowing throughout our country and leading Canada to achieve #3 in overall rankings, is our core value of Multiculturalism!

Multiculturalism in Canada

Canada is considered a nation of newcomers, especially because immigration has been on the rise ever since its establishment. With this growth, many new cultures, ethnicities, languages, and religions have also emerged.

We recently spoke with two Paladin Security Supervisor’s who grew up in a different country before moving to Canada. Discover how a career at Paladin Security assisted with their transition, by reading their stories below!

Career Opportunities for New Canadian Residents

Harvir Sandhu: Security Site Supervisor

Harvir Sandhu was born and raised in Punjab, India. Until the age of 27, Harvir worked as a lawyer and believed he would always pursue this field as a career. However, when he moved to Canada in December of 2017, Harvir’s plans began to shift.

Many challenges are presented to individuals who move to a country with new languages, customs, and laws. For Harvir, he was challenged with finding a stable career. This challenge continued until Harvir’s friend suggested he should apply to Paladin Security.

Although Harvir initially wanted to practice law, he was thrilled to learn that Paladin was one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. This discovery validated Harvir’s interest in joining the security industry. As Harvir applied for positions online, the guaranteed benefits of working for Paladin were only beginning to unfold.

Paladin provided a smooth introduction to the Canadian workforce for Harvir. Not only was he presented with promotion opportunities, superior benefits, and accommodating schedules, but Harvir also received:

  1. High pay

Paladin Security is one of the highest paying companies in the industry because we believe our people are worth it.

  1. Knowledge of Canadian culture, customs, and etiquette

Not only has Harvir received comprehensive security knowledge, but he has also discovered the value of multiculturalism in Canada. At Paladin Security, Harvir has immersed himself in a workplace with various cultures, backgrounds, and fields of study.

  1. “The best experience of my life” says Harvir

Paladin has provided me with opportunities I might not have received elsewhere! I have also learned procedures and acquired skills, which I was able apply to other areas of my life, in order to make my transition to Canada easier.

Ashamdeep Dhillon, Shift Supervisor

Ashamdeep Dhillon was also born and raised in Punjab, India. In August of 2016, she ventured to Canada at the age of 23, and eventually landed a position with Paladin Security in December of 2017.

Ashamdeep faced similar challenges as Harvir did when she moved to Canada. She was specifically challenged with the issue of landing a career, which would provide her with job security. When Ashamdeep unexpectedly came across Paladin, she discovered a career with guaranteed opportunities for growth.

Paladin presented Ashamdeep with the chance to enhance her living experience in Canada by working at an expert company with reliable people. This allowed her to heighten both her customer service skills and decision-making skills. With Paladin’s core belief of providing promotions from within, Ashamdeep received the opportunity to advance from Security Officer to Security Site Supervisor.

Since working as a Security Officer and Shift Supervisor, Ashamdeep’s perspective of Canada has changed in many new ways. She also utilized the skills she learned through Paladin Security, in order to more easily settle into Canada, which include:

  • A boost in her confidence
  • The ability to think outside of the box
  • Enhanced soft skills, such as communication, problem solving, and teamwork

What Does It Mean to Be Canadian?

When asked what it means to be Canadian, Harvir mentions how it is having a sense of unity, safety, and progress.

“I believe Canada provides you with the opportunity to succeed in life. It is a country where dreams can be made true and hard work pays off.”

- Harvir Sandhu

Ashamdeep also defined being a Canadian as:

  • The ability to be who you are
  • The freedom to speak and stand up for your beliefs
  • Respecting other opinions, and having others respect your opinion as well

Advice for New Canadian Residents

Harvir provided the following advice for new Canadian residents who are searching for jobs.

I would strongly recommend new residents to join Paladin Security and opt for security as a career. There is no limit to the opportunities provided by Paladin. There is also no limit to what can be achieved in life while working for one the Best Managed Companies!

Ashamdeep also listed the following advice for new Canadian residents.
