Toronto’s
“Paladin’s Finest” Program

The Paladin's Finest Program recognizes individuals who exemplify four qualities: Integrity, Leadership, Service and Care

We pride ourselves on the fact that our people are of the highest caliber with the right combination of education, temperament and attitude. Every day, our growing team of security professionals go above and beyond, as they are asked to manage situations that most would turn away from. With this in mind, Site Security Coordinator at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Paul Nicholson, implemented a robust recognition program called "Paladin's Finest."

The Paladin's Finest Program was originally piloted to recognize individuals on our security team at Mount Sinai Hospital who exemplify four key principles in their everyday work - integrity, leadership, service and care.

These four principles foster positive beneficial characteristics and provide the opportunity to introduce new practices and approaches to everyday

events in the workplace by setting a new standard in moving forward. This program aims to bolster morale and instill pride in the workplace, as well as recognize and reward our individual staff members.

Since the program's inception in January 2017, it has now expanded to College Park and Centennial College and has been very popular amongst staff who are responding to the concept of becoming one of "Paladin's Finest."

Dependant on the demands of each site, some of the four principles are more attainable than others. The program encourages staff to think independently as to how they can improve their site and in their own management of conflict. With strict guidelines and criteria, earning recognition from the Paladin's Finest Program is challenging for any Security Officer, as it is truly designed to recognize those who are upholding our four key principles each and every day.

When a Security Guard becomes a recipient of the Paladin's Finest Program, he or she is presented with a certification and honoured with a "Paladin's

Finest" coin symbolizing their contribution and effort in keeping their site safe.

The presentation of a Challenge Coin was included as this is a symbol within the military and law enforcement industries. Those that receive it have accomplished something significant and they are being recognized publicly. It is a unique token of appreciation, encouraging the recipient to take pride in going above and beyond and setting the tone for the rest of the team.

Some of the Program's pioneer awardees include: Shawna Roach and Jessica Ching of Mount Sinai Hospital, and Jason Gunther of College Park.

Paul Nicholson's commitment and effort in making the Paladin's Finest Program a reality has been nothing short of incredible. The ideas that change our company often come from our people in the field and this is a strong example of extremely talented individual with great ideas.

This is exactly what we are talking about when we mention the 'Paladin Difference', because people like Paul take such pride in what we are trying to do as an organization. They personify what that difference is. The enthusiasm he came to me with regarding this program was contagious. I am incredibly proud to say that I played a small part in this coming into fruition,

said Toronto Client Service Manager, Jay Lynagh.
