Fort McMurray branch celebrates 401,616 hours incident-free at Canadian Natural Resources Limited site.
Here at Paladin, the safety of our team members is of paramount importance to us. We take pride in having dedicated management teams and corporate and site-specific Occupational Health and Safety Committees who ensure that safety is implemented at all levels. It is taught throughout our training programs, emphasized in our Paladin Orientation Training, and reiterated during Site Training.
These extensive safety mechanisms, in combination with an unwavering commitment to maintaining a corporate culture of safety, have recently led to an amazing achievement. Paladin provides security services to the Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) Horizon Oil Sands near Fort McMurray, AB, and we are proud to be celebrating 401,616 hours of work with no recordable lost time injuries (LTI) or medical incidents for our team!
Paladin’s Fort McMurray Branch Manager, Matt Garcin, has been oriented to the importance of safety since his early days as an Oil & Gas Security Officer. Matt has shown tremendous leadership and has managed by example, putting safety above all else and ensuring written programs take life and are implemented in the field.
Matt says,
This is an amazing collective achievement by our team. Safety is the most important piece of our operation and will continue to be. This incredible milestone would not have been possible if Paladin and our client, CNRL, did not share a common goal of safety – CNRL’s support is instrumental in this. I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has contributed to this achievement and continues to maintain a safe workplace. Well done!
Supporting Matt in these efforts is a great team of supervisory personnel, including Mary Alexander, one of Paladin’s primary Occupational Health and Safety representatives at our Oil & Gas operations. Mary oversees safety implementation and ensures all of our employees have the proper tools and education to conduct their work safely.
Alongside Mary is a superb, strong, and diligent team of Supervisors who direct the security teams at each shift and oversee all work activities with great efficiency and care for each team member.
Of course, this achievement wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our Paladin Security Officers who continually strive for success and work hard every day to ensure the safety of themselves and their teammates through careful communication and camaraderie, and adherence to vital policies and procedures.
Congratulations to the entire Horizon team! This success underscores the importance of prioritizing thorough and ongoing safety training, and shows how much is possible when a team works together towards a shared vision.
