(Updated) November 4, 2020 – We are excited to announce that Paladin Security is the winner of the 2020 BOMA National Pinnacle Award for Innovation.
2020 BOMA National Pinnacle Award for Innovation
Each year, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Canada National Awards Program recognizes excellence in the Canadian commercial real estate industry. Allied members, such as Paladin Security, who provide services to a principal member, are eligible for the following award categories:
The Pinnacle Award for Innovation recognizes innovation, outstanding customer service, teamwork, and commitment to clients. This innovation may be seen in a beneficial company program, product or service, an efficient way to solve specific needs, or an inventive way to keep customers happy.
We would like to congratulate our team in Edmonton for their successful “Compassion to Action” program, which won the 2020 BOMA Edmonton Pinnacle Award earlier this year. This incredible program contributed to Paladin's success in winning the National Pinnacle Award. Winning the 2020 BOMA Edmonton Pinnacle Award
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the BOMA Edmonton Awards Gala was postponed. As a result, our Edmonton branch was notified through email in April that they won the 2020 Pinnacle Award for Innovation for their ingenious “Compassion to Action” program. Our teams worked closely to create a program that is based not on enforcement, but on compassion - especially for the vulnerable. This includes finding solutions for their needs, whether it be locating shoes or a jacket for someone, contacting 211 for assistance, or simply approaching people with empathy, care, and compassion.
Recently, The Imagine Institute and a representative from United Way spent time with Paladin Security and Edmonton City Centre’s Safety and Security Manager, Pam Brown. Their goal was to observe our team’s compassion-based delivery of service in order to develop a training program of their own. Once their program was established, they invited Paladin Security Officers and management to critique the program and provide their feedback. Today, the Imagine Institute offers the training program to many industries and Community workers.
Paladin Security is changing the scope of enforcement-based security programs. We are doing this by showcasing how a “Compassion to Action” program can not only reduce criminal activity, but can also build communities, support the vulnerable, and lower the incidents towards our employees. Today, this program is utilized at many locations we serve within the city of Edmonton.
Other service industry providers are now recognizing “Compassion to Action” programs as a way of working with the community in order to provide solutions to their needs. As a result, one of our Security Officers is now a part-time instructor for Imagine Institute. This program has provided him with an opportunity to teach others about what he does daily as a Security Officer at Paladin Security, and what qualifications they might need to apply.
Greg Swecera, Vice President, commented, “In the past, we have achieved other BOMA Awards, however, I am extremely proud we have won the Pinnacle Award for Innovation. This award recognizes that our approach in the security industry differs to what our competition is doing. It recognizes that Paladin Security is forward thinking and progressive in our actions. On behalf of Paladin Security, and our team of Security Officers, thank you BOMA Edmonton for recognizing our innovation of putting “Compassion to Action”. This innovation has helped our efforts of making Edmonton a safer and friendlier place to live, work, and visit.”
