- How long have you worked in security & what drew you to the industry?
I’ve been working in security for three years. A career in the industry was always in the back of my mind, but I was busy raising a family, so it was never something I pursued. When my kids grew up and left home, I started actively looking at a career in security, Paladin stood out to me because of the training opportunities and many awards. - What unique traits do you feel women bring to security?
From my experience, I feel women tend to have a gentler approach with certain issues. Women look at situations with a different perspective; perhaps with an instinct that is a bit more compassionate. This approach brings diversity to the teams which transfers to success. Women are also amazing leaders who are great at delegating tasks, organizing people and plans, and getting things done. - Why are women in leadership so important for the growth of the industry?
Women in leadership roles is so important for the growth of the industry. We have so much to offer: life skills, organization, ambition, and values that can help lead and inspire individuals and client care. - How do you see our roles evolving in the future?
The security industry is always changing, which means our roles will change as well. I don’t know exactly what that will look like, but it is a growing industry where women have the opportunity to excel. Security is a great industry for anyone to gain knowledge, perspective, and understanding that can be used to further your career and also transfer into everyday life. - What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given that you’d like to pass on to women following in your footsteps?
Empower each other. Never give up; learn, grow as an individual, and share your knowledge with others.
